Should add my own numbers:

First baby: 2.5 years
Second baby: almost 5 years
Third baby: 3.5 years
Fourth baby: almost 5 years

I do think personality is a factor in this, too. I was really seeking to do 
child-led weaning and certainly would have nursed baby number 3 longer, but 
he was just DONE. At the end, I lay down with him to nurse him to sleep (as 
I did every night) and he looked up at me and said "let's just talk."
