If mom and baby are skin to skin, I doubt that there are any non nursing
babies.
If mom and baby are separated (baby to NICU) then she needs to start pumping
asap. Sooner rather than later. When I was hosp LC I would go in and find
baby in NICU and mom not pumping yet and it made me mad, so I got a policy
that mom was to be instructed in pumping/expression, given kit and pump etc
with in 12 hours and this was to be documented in chart or else! That's
all liquid gold in there and it does not depend on when the LC gets to work
to start mom with getting it out! It is a nursing responsibility.
