I would also wonder about the intracranial pressure from the flattening of
the back of the head. That cannot be good for nerves, bodily functions, or
aesthetics, for that matter.
I recently met my newest 7month old cousin, and she has an extremely flat
head. I mentioned to her grandmother that this little one looks so much like
her other grandbaby. "Well, I don't think they look alike at all, except
they both have really flat heads!" (this baby, and the other one, are on
medications for reflux, and one baby takes thickened liquids in an effort to
prevent regurgitation...)
Shaking my head!

I would add that the bucket style CAR SEATS, not baby carriers, as they are
now called, are sometimes angled to encourage reflux. I heard a speaker on
the topic of the increase in diagnosis of GERD in infants attribute the
increase to babes spending so much time in car seats. Of course, there
were other thoughts, but that one was significant in the speakers opinion.
My shoulder could never have born the extra weight of baby plus car seat.
I don't know how the moms do it.
