Yes the house and the heart does expand as each grandchild arrives but the
budget doesn`t so one has to set priorities.
Having spent yesterday, my regular one day a week looking after the
youngest - 8 months - who misses his mum and clings on to me (all 9 kilo)
like a monkey for the entire time that he is with us I am now planning a fun
day for the older kids who have a short school holiday coming up.
Don`t be sorry when they grow up Royce. While I still coo over that baby
smell, I really enjoy the older ones and spend a lot of time researching
museums, activities, trips, picnic sites and play centres. And the joy and
pride at that first Barmitzvah last year!!
As long as we have the health and strength to cope, we can enjoy the arrival
of each new child and enjoy each new personality, note how they resemble
their parents when they were small and remember the joy (and exhaustion) of
their childhood years.
