Linda describes what is currently called the Abbott Nutrition?Mothers Survey which was renamed from the old Ross Laboratories Mothers Survey. Abbott Nutritionals has been conducting this survey since 1955 which amounts to a gold mine of marketing data. In the US, there are several surveys that collect breastfeeding data for non-commercial use such as the National Immunization Survey conducted by the CDC. Breastfeeding advocates have gotten the federal government to stop using Abbott data in the Healthy People 2010 breastfeeding objectives. It should come as no surprise that Abbott gathers marketing data under a bogus name. This is no different?from how they market formula to mothers. Deception and false and misleading advertising sells formula!
