"That's what scares ACOG most--women who think."
Please review my letter to the editor in Birth, March 2004. There are many intelligent, well-informed women who weigh the evidence and the risks, and decide that a cesarean section is the best choice for them.
Please do not condemn all OB-Gyn's. all doctors and hospitals, because they come to different conclusions than you do, looking at the same "evidence". I really believe that everyone wants to do their best for their patients - but there is honest uncertainty and dissagreement as to what is "best" for any given person.
I do not believe that all, or even most, OB-Gyn recommendations are financially motivated. As a neonatologist I am paid relatively well , but I would never practice neonatology for the money! - you have to love what you do and believe you are helping people - to justify the risks I take every day!
