"I seem to recall someone asking recently about whether or not we have
evidence about any form of supplemental feeding and its relationship to
breastfeeding.

I ran across this in the Cochrane Library ...
results: Authors' conclusions
Cup feeding cannot be recommended over bottle feeding as a supplement to
breastfeeding because it confers no significant benefit in maintaining
breastfeeding beyond hospital discharge and carries the
unacceptable consequence of a longer stay in hospital. "

Thanks, Molly that was me. I was actually referring to any studies that
compared paced bottlefeeding, vs standard vs cups or tube devices, but it looks
like this the kind of research available right now. Bottlfeeding seems to
just be generic bottlefeeding in studies, unless one is reading something in
JHL/by an IBCLC or LLLL/trained layperson. Thanks for sharing. Also I am
thinking more about babies who may need this for a while, not just a few days, but
weeks if there is an unrecognized or untreated tongue tie keeping a baby from
adequately feeding at breast.

Peace,
