This did not originally refer to milk production and the related feedback
inhibitor system, but I've been using this saying for years in ref to milk
removal vis-a-vis increasing, maintaining or decreasing production. (And I
also prefer the word "production" to "supply" as "supply" indicates
something static or a finite process. Milk production is dynamic; it can go
up/down based on several factors, esp. level of milk removal. (Linda Smith
was the first to get me thinking of the use of "production" vs. "supply" and
I'm into such semantics.)
