Terri asks about a mom with instructions not to breastfeed after toddler's tonsillectomy. 
I imagine, Terry, that this is a variation on the "No drinking from a straw" orders that post-tonsillectomy patients have. At least they did when I worked in the hospital setting, 15 (!!) years ago. The rationale was that sucking increased the pressure in the throat, increasing the chance for the clot to become dislodged from the surgical site and causing bleeding. 
I always wondered at the time how they found this out. It may be true, or it may be a myth. Also, 'sucking' at breast is different from sucking at straw or bottle, so would this even apply to breastfeeding? Are the other babies banned from the bottle for 2 weeks? 2 weeks???? If I remember half way correctly, the bleeding risk fell way down after 12-24 hours. 
And have there been changes in the surgery in the last 15 years? Lasers?
2nd opinion in order? I'm sure someone has suggested that already. Good luck,
