Canada has two affiliates of La Leche League.
Ligue La Leche serves French-speaking mothers, primarily in the province of
Quebec.
La Leche League Canada serves mothers speaking languages other than French.
Some bilingual or mult-lingual Leaders belong to both affiliates.
There are also a number of smaller, more locally-based breastfeeding support
groups and organizations across the country. Some Public Health units and
related programs have set up programs with names like "Breastfeeding
Buddies" which match experienced breastfeeding mothers with new mothers.
Some are aimed at particular groups, such as teen mothers. Some of these are
not really "mother to mother or peer support" because they are really groups
run by a nurse or lactation consultant. But there are lots of variations.
