Jaye, you are right on. We can't tip-toe around being politically correct
about the problems that exist in the wide gaps in scope of experience and
practice between IBCLC as well as the problems of CLCs, LEs, etc. For the sake of
mothers and babies and our profession, these problems need to be discussed.
The cause of the problems need to be identified and solutions need to be
sought in order to elevate the profession of IBCLC to excellence, so that more
mothers and babies have their needs met with an optimal standard of care. This
should be the goal of IBLCE, ILCA and each IBCLC.
