The following article turned up on an alert. A quick search suggested that blue baby syndrome has not been observed in breastfed babies. If that is so the statement below is just another example of hiding the dangers of early weaning.
Does anyone know anything about this issue?

High levels of nitrates can impair the body's ability to absorb oxygen in blood, leading to serious health effects. Infants fed formula or breast milk high in nitrates can develop "blue baby syndrome," a condition that can lead to coma or death.
