In my 30+ years of helping moms, I think I have tried every method and
placement under the sun for hand expression...and observed mothers doing it
for themselves effectively with many different placements of hands and
fingers.
Could you all be right? I think so!
Some moms need pressure right behind the areola, some further back - and one
mom, I found that her RIGHT breast needed a totally different placement of
my hands from her LEFT breast - in fact this clued me in to use totally
different breast pump flanges for 2 breasts that LOOKED very much the same -
she needed the old, LARGE glass flange in one side and the normal one on the
other!
