Quick introduction, than a story. I'm a long-time LLL Leader, fairly new (a few weeks) to LACTNET, and posting here for the first time.
I saw Heather's message (below), tweaked the information to make it a general comment, and posted the information to the "Boycott Nestle" group I belong to on facebook (yes, this 59+ year old has a facebook page). Twenty-five minutes later I got a message from someone who saw my post and acted on it. She said she called the hotel and spoke to the manager, Tim Davies. He had not heard of the boycott and is contacting his ethics people in NY. He seemed quite shocked about the issue. It turns out Nestle gave him the products for free (no surprise).
The big surprise for the manager is that this person called from England! She's planning to send a follow-up 'reasons why to boycott nestle' email. She closes her message to me, "Poor guy won't know what's hit him."
Much appreciation to the dedicated people who post to this list.

Planters Inn of Charleston, SC USA - http://www.plantersinn.com/packages.htm
offers a "Baby's On the Way" get-away package for expectant couples. Included in the amenities is a "Stylish, insulated backpack complete with Nestle baby formula, baby bottle, and information about infant care, all courtesy of Nestle."

Subject: Babymoon package for expectant parents includes Nestle formula
I haven't checked in here in a few days, so I don't know if this has shown up
already, but I just found this info.
Apparently on the Today show last week, they where they were talking about
babymooning--a holiday before the baby is born according to the story, not a
babymoon for mom and baby to get to know each other like what I associate
with that term. Anyway, the reporter was talking with a travel expert about
lavish vacation packages that cater to expectant moms. I don't know how it
came to be w/ the Today Show and mentioning this hotel but somewhere
along the lines this place came up:
http://www.plantersinn.com/packages.htm
This hotel website states "Stylish, insulated backpack complete with Nestle
baby formula, baby bottle, and information about infant care, all courtesy of
Nestle" in its description of what is included with the babymoon package:
How disturbing that Nestle finds yet another dirty way to violate the code,
target and sabatoge expectant mothers bf goals, and get free advertising!
I will definitely be writing a letter, as it is very likely that the hotel does not
even realize the WHO code exists, why it exists, and that they are violating
it.
