Thanks Mike for the support for pursuing this topic. I'd also like to point
out to those in large multi state or international companies or with
academic support that for a small (less than 15) CRM company it is not usually
possible to scan the data in 100s of boxes of files. It takes money to pay staff
or an outside company to do this and discretionary funding for scanning just
isn't a priority over staff benefits and other company costs. Also, don't
forget that technology is relatively new. Our early reports were all produced
on an Olivetti typewriter. From there we went to one dedicated DecMate word
processor (one machine = $5,000 at the time - a hugh investment!). It was
awhile before the PC world became integrated into our CRM world. Most of our
early drafts, etc. are all handwritten because they needed to be written out
before going to our lone word processor on our lone machine.

And Mike is right. We have many files, both in our general business admin
and in our project folders that speak to the history of the CRM industry,
trends in our profession, and changes in our federal and state laws. As a
trained historian it kills me to shred our business and other records. How many
times have we gone to archives trying to find a bill of sale or anything for a
company we are researching? So my next question - does anyone know of a
repository or library that is business based that wants donated collections?
