And all of this conversation reminds me of the discussion of if the mother
is able to feed the baby, regardless of the size.
When I was born, my mother was told her milk wasn't enough to sustain me: I
was too little, there was no way her milk would be "good enough." I weighed
all of 5#4oz (full term, smoking mother...)
When my "baby" was born, I was warned by my then doctor that I wouldn't be
able to sustain her, because: she was too big, and there was no way my milk
would be "good enough." She was, ironically, 10#8oz (2 weeks early, thank
goodness!)
If my baby book is correct, I lost almost 20% of my birth weight (natural,
uninterferred with birth, unheard of during the time the dinosaurs walked
the earth - 1961, but Mom did remain in the hospital for the required 7 day
stay). When my baby was born, it was 10 years ago, and she not only didn't
lose weight, she gained 8 ounces in the first week. (home birth, no
interventions, and complete sts)
I don't think it has so much to do with the size of the baby, as it does
with the processes after the birth of said baby.
Best wishes,

Dear Friends;
If that 10 ml of colostrum comes from 1,000 different women, I bet the
constituents would be variable between samples.
Please correct me if I have an incorrect idea.
warmly,
