I am behind on reading, and catching up. I wanted to let Jennifer
know that I agree...the wording should be not breastfeeding can
cause/increase risk, etc. However, I was not excited about the news
itself, or the wording...it was what they did not say. Usually,
whenever there is some 'report' of how breastfeeding is good for
whatever, the very next words are "but if you can't don't feel guilty
and babies thrive on formula" and this time, no one said that! No one
made an excuse for the information or softened it up wtih "don't feel
guilty if you choose not to and it is okay". There was nothing
mentioned about women's right to make the choice, that the choice was
equal to the alternative. It was the lack of the disclaimer that
assured all women who did not breastfeed that they were fine and their
babies were fine that I found the most refreshing.
Take care,
Pam MazzellaDiBoasco
