I just have personal experience.....no research.
6 weeks after my 2nd child was born, my 3 1/2 year old son was diagnosed
with diabetes. That first few months, we were fighting cold after cold and
strep throat with his lowered immunity. I decided to start giving him a few
ounces of pumped milk a day.....within weeks the frequent colds/strep throat
disappeared. We continued to give him just a few ounces/day for the next 3
years while his brother nursed. He is now 8 years old and has a wonderful
immune system..... I'm glad we did it-- even if this mom gives the milk to help
boost the immunity of her 5 year old, it will help. I can't think of one reason
why it wouldn't be a good idea!! Beth Kushner-
