My friend, Yvonne, who wrote this thesis will be ever so stoked (happy) to
know that her message is getting out. It is a wonderful revelation of the
effects of bad-science being propagated through generations of health
professionals (in this case dentists). Long story short - there is no
evidence that breastfeeding causes early childhood caries (which used to be
called nursing bottle caries, came to be known as nursing caries and is now
called ECC). However, the myth that breastfeeding can be responsible for
this condition has been propagated through dental schools across the world
for generations - all because of the publication of a handful of
scientifically sloppy articles.
Now where have we heard this story before??
