Pre-eclampsia is the BIG reason for ending a pregnancy early. As research and the body of knowledge grows on this topic, it always strikes me of how much we don't know. Hopefully, the March of Dimes current focus on pre-term births may begin to unravel this mystery, since multiple gestations and pre-eclampsia are two of the big causes of pre-term births. This mother has been managed this far along in her pregnancy despite carrying twins (healthy, so far) and having pre-eclampsia. The elevated liver enzymes are a big concern. This often leads to HELLP syndome which can put the lives of mother and babies in peril. She and her babies will do better if they are delivered while all three are relatively healthy. A mother in critical condition before, during and after delivery won't be able to nurse her babies and get them off to a good start. I hope this explanation helps.
