I am calling extended breastfeeding "sustained breastfeeding," as in
"breastfeeding is a relationship that can be sustained for a long time." Moms are so
surprised to hear that the immunological properties of human milk are still
present months and years down the road. And when you mention that sustained
breastfeeding (over one year) is the norm worldwide, they are even more
surprised. Just covered this info with a med student and nursing students last
week and they were very receptive to this education.
