working with a mom who is breastfeeding and her baby has been diagnosed
with
eosinophilic proctitis (these babies are prone to milk protein allergies)
the doctors have put the baby on formula (pregestimil) for now and have
recommended
mom elininate milk and soy from her diet if she wishes to continue
breastfeeding
I came across a paragraph in the Breastfeeding question and answer book on
page 133 talking about giving mothers enzymes like a CF patient would take
before meals and snacks to help break down the food more thoroughly "so
that the offending foo is less likely to pass into the milk"
Any one ever tried this with a mom? Our CF dietitian is looking into it as well.
Thanks,
Ruth
