Ah this is nice to share and remember and learn from other's experiences.
I learned that mine were odd...:)
First child, 1986, nursed 4 years, 3 months. Woke up one morning with a
stuffy nose, not easy to nurse, asked if we could have cereal. Never asked again.
Second child, 1991, nursed 3 years, 3 months. Her weaning was a surprise
since I always heard subsequent children went longer. She did not nurse as much
for comfort as her brother did, maybe second baby got a more powerful let-down
( like Niagara Falls) and I didn't know enough to lean back. She never
seemed to mind having to pull off and get sprayed in the face those early weeks,
just waited and calmly went back on. Sucked her thumb for years. No teeth
problems.
The thing I felt was a bit of a 'rip-off' was LAM : with my first, who
nursed every two hours for nearly 4 years, I got my period back at 4 months.
Skipped and got others at 7, and 9 and was regular after 9 skimpy months. Second
child, nursed regularly during the day but slept about 6-7 hours easy at night
with no encouragement from me, only shock, happy, happy kid, and I got my
period back at 5 months, then again at 8 and regular again by 9. Go figure.
Peace,
Judy
