I had a good friend who had a lump removed when she was a teen. Years
later, she went on to nurse six children, all singles, on the other
breast. The one breast produced more than sufficient milk for her
children, even when she was tandem nursing two children, something she
did twice. The breast that had surgery produced a tiny amount, but she
just found it easier to nurse on the one side. Her children weaned
between 2 1/2 and 4 years of age. So it's very possible.

I also knew of a woman who had triplets who nursed all three until well
past todderhood with no artificial baby milk, no help from other donated
milk and no bottles.
