Hi Wendy,
This family needs an in person evaluation. It could be low supply, it could
be oversupply, overactive letdown, tongue tie, food sensitivity - these are
my first thoughts. I would pretty much rule out thrush, since she's been
pretty well treated so far. I would advise them that they will likely need
at least 2 visits, to get a history, examine mom and baby, and to observe
the feeding, and then followup after interventions are suggested. Are you
experienced with assessing and intervening with bf problems? Can you see
them or refer to someone who can?
