Hi Anne
yes, the little girl is cows milk intolerant, and mum did eliminate cows milk products from the diet. So I'm sure that that is somethig to do with it. I know she did eliminate it as she talked about trying buffalo milk as an alternative, [this is fairly easily available in our area as there is a farm with a herd. I know animal milk is not essential but often mums want an alternative to substitute in the diet to make it easy to prepare food for the rest of the family]. The article is a really interesting one and I will forward her the link, she will be very interested in it, and it's possible soemthing in it might ring bells. O do remember hearing that if someone is cows milk intolerant they are more likely to be soy intolerant which didn't show up here.

Helen Butler asked about a baby who experienced constipation
following introduction of solids.
Constipation can be a sign of cow's milk intolerance.
See http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/339/16/1100
for a study reported in the New England Journal of Medicine, Volume
339, number 16, pages 1100-1104, October 15, 1998.
It is titled "Intolerance of Cow's Milk and Chronic Constipation in
Children."
> Conclusions: In young children, chronic constipation can be a

This is something to consider, if it hasn't been already, with this
family. You can also do a Google search on "Constipation and
introduction of cow's milk in infants" to bring up additional articles.
