Energy requirements during lactation increase by 500 kcal daily..
Lactating vegan women should use a reliable source of vitamin B12 daily and a
vitamin D supplement if exposeure to sunlight is limited. Vitamin D and B12
supplemtntation of breastfed infants of vegan mothers is also recommeded.
Lactating women should include a reliable source of DHA or linolenic acid in
their diet or take a DHA supplement. Not from the da... formula companies of
course!
