Hello Friends,
I wanted to give you all an update on my son who was refusing to nurse post
frenulectomy. I am sad to report that he is still refusing to nurse and I
do believe it is officially over. After a week of tears, I feel better
about the situation. Although I would still prefer to mother him at my
breast, I have learned to mother him in other ways. We have slowly adjusted
and I am wearing him more and he is allowing me to cuddle him again after
some refusal of even a cuddle the first week post op. On a side note, he
has been eating solid food like never before. This is a positive as I felt
that his restricted tongue was one of the reasons for his very slow
transition to solid food. My guess is he has already gained 2-3 much needed
pounds. I wish my story had a different ending, but I wanted to thank
everyone who wrote with wonderful ideas and encouragement. I would write
each one of you back if I had time
Thanks again,
Carrie Thayer mom to 2, RN, BSN, IBCLC
