We have separate refrigerators for breast milk (this one has a freezer) and
one for formula that has to be made by the dietary dept. The separation is
because the breast milk is a biohazard since it is a body fluid....I know, I
know but that is the reasoning..

Subject: hospital storage for breastmilk and formula
I have searched for documentation regarding freezer/refrigerater storage of
breastmilk and formula, and have been unsuccessful.
As far as storing both human milk and formula TOGETHER, ADA says it's OK
(best practice is to have separate units for human milk). Do any of you
have
references for storing EBM and formula in the same refrigerator? Is there
any
reason these can't be stored in the same unit? Human Milk Banking
Association recommends a separate unit in order to protect the breastmilk
and
give mothers the clear message that it is valued.
Thanks,
