just pondering this as I feel the onset of cold or flu symptoms this morning, and knowing that my nursing child has already been exposed to the virus and started fighting it, maybe before I had symptoms: would there be any "germ-fighting" benefit from a woman consuming her own expressed milk; if so, would it be only if it was prophylactic- before she was exposed to the virus?
(whenever my boys have had "pinkeye" symptoms, everyone in the family including hubby and me gets a shot of my breastmilk in their eyes - whether it's treatment or prevention!)
sorry if this has ever been asked/answered and I missed it in the archives.
thanks for helping me learn more about breastmilk immunology!

whose 20-month-old lachlan attacked his 7-year-old brother sean's bare chest and nipple last night, trying to nurse, which made 4-year-old harrison jealous, so HE pulled up his shirt and said "lachlan, come nurse ME! here's MY milk!" :-D
