There is an article in The Nursing Spectrum Nov, 5 2007 ed. about use of probiotics.
It is basically OK until it says:
"Determine if new mothers are breastfeeding. If so, women who are breastfeeding and who plan to take probiotics should consult their physicians, as breast milk also may contain the organisms[I suppose they mean the probiotics]. While evidence shows probiotics bolster the immune system, a physician must determine what is safe for an infant."
needless to say this leaves me spitting mad!! I have to go to bed and sleep so I can compose myself before I point out how stupid the "tip" is. After all breast milk is the original probiotic to my mind :-) After I cool off I'll let you know what I say to them :-) Pat in SNJ
