I will be seeing a mother/baby pair this week and after extensive questions
to mother and searching the Lactnet archives, am fairly certain will find
the problem to be tongue tie. Baby's ped feels tongue is tight, but not
much room to release, only 1mm space to clip and ped doesn't feel will make
a difference and that it is more likely baby is retracting tongue.

I also think baby is probably retracting tongue, but due to tongue tie. My
question to all of you is: will releasing such a small amount of frenulum
make a difference or should I focus on helping mom get good latches with
positioning. Have any of you seen a small release make a difference and can
you point me to something mom could bring to ped to show this? I've
searched and can't find anything about this specifically.

Thanks in advance for your help!
