Hi, Robin and All: I looked at the website you posted, Robin. Thanks! I will
have our billing tech take a look at the site. Within the last 6 months or so,
moms have been telling me that BC/BS (Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance) is
denying their claim for outpatient lactation consults we do here at the
hospital. I asked a mom yesterday to call BC/BS to find out why they are
suddenly denying these claims. She was told that it is the billing number the
hospital is using. Apparently the number the hospital is using shows that the
visit is a doctor's office visit. We do see our outpts under a written doctor's
order which is submitted with the paperwork, but because the hospital is not
using a billing code with lactation consult or visit in it, BC/BS feels they can
deny the claim.
Will this number solve this problem? Anyone in the hospital using one of these
numbers?
