Another possible explanation could be vasospasms such as in migraine
headaches. I have personal experience with this in the early post partum
period many years ago. This was diagnosed as atypical migraine. Now we
call these vascular headaches. I experienced the aura of visual
disturbance, but it did not progress to the incapacitating pain and nausea
of a typical migraine. I had experienced migraine headaches since the age
of 10, so this was totally new and sent me to the doctor for a work-up. The
symptoms subsided as weeks went on after delivering my youngest daughter.
Now I can brag that I have had my head examined!
