I would like to post this case, to get more information from you with much
more experience and knowledge than me. I had a patient referred to me that
is due in a couple of months. She wants to breastfeed. She is a multigravida
2 pr 1. Was able to breastfeed first sibling up to four months. She had a
mastoplasty and breast augmentation done to make her more symetrical.
I don't know if the surgery was before or after the first baby. The mastoplasty
was done because of congenital breast that did not develop as much as the
other breast in glandular tissue. I only got to speak with her a few minutes
and did not get a complete history. I will see her postpartum on the Ob unit
when she delivers. I told her if she was able to breastfeed her first baby for 4
months I did not see any reason for her to not breastfeed this baby. She said
that abou three months she had to supplement and then it seemed that she
had to supplement after feedings. I will post more information as it becomes
more available to me. Any suggestion you may have to help me help her be
more successful will be greatly appreciated please feel free to email me
privetaly.
Thank you as always,
Terri Klein RN CLE CLC
