My jaw is on the floor after reading your post.  This person has revealed an 
incredible ignorance about breastfeeding and nutrition in general. 
Unfortunately, I have heard similar ignorance out of the mouth of my son's 
pedi GI also.

Following the suggestions outlined below will increase the risk of an anemic 
baby who does not gain weight well and who may develop allergies.  Barley 
contains gluten, and most of the oats in the USA are cross-contaminated with 
gluten in processing.

The dietary suggestions show no compensation for the iron and protein that 
the baby will be missing by breastfeeding less.  LLLI and other sources 
recognize that when breastmilk consumption decreases due to intake of solid 
foods, those foods should contain iron and protein to replace what's lost by 
less intake of breastmilk.

Does she have other options in doctors?  This one is scary.
