Let's not forget the importance of the oral feedback, the movement of
tongue, soft palate, cheeks, etc.  All of this is very different with a
formed, artificial nipple vs a breast.

No time was this made clearer to me than when I helped a mom whose baby was
dying of a very  Epidermolysis bullosa - usually these babies have to stop
oral feedings early because their oral tissue is so damaged by the bottle
nipples.  This baby was able to breastfeed much longer than the doctors
expected....
