Primip is a first time mom. Multip is a mom who has had one baby carried to
term. Grand multip is many babies, AMA is advanced maternal age. PIH is
pregnancy induced hypertension. PPH is post partum hemmorahge sp) tongue
tie clipping can be called frenectomy, frenotomy and any of the frequent uses,
unless it is more than just "under the tongue".. Low BS is low blood sugar,
why some infants of diabetic moms get formula. PIGGI (old) is pregnancy
induced glucose intolerance or diabetes in pregnancy and resolving after the
baby is delivered. MgSo4 is magnesium sulfate, a nasty little drug that keeps
the seizure threshold high in moms with PIH or high blood pressure...Doesn't
lower blood pressure per se, but keeps the mommys from seizing and then the
baby goes without oxygen while mom in seizure. Some moms need to stay on
this medication after delivery for up to 48 hours or longer if Liver enzymes are
up or spilling protein in urine... Hope this helps,
Best,
robin
