I am doing a search to provide evidenced based information for inservice of staff. Can anyone point me to current articles that deal with the importance of getting baby to breast within the first hour. Specifically how this relates to better milk production, longer duration of breastfeeding, less complications ie hypogylcemia, jaundice, weight loss.

I'm also looking for any articles that discuss the bolus of colostrum that may be present right after birth, again pointing out that the sooner the baby gets to breast the better but also for a NICU baby, the need for early pumping also exists. I know this was a topic not that long ago on Lactnet but I did not see anything in relation to research for this, just observation. If you know of articles that are out there I would br grateful to hear of them.

Back to my searching, thanks for any guidance.
