I think I posted about this recently, so skip if it is a repeat for you!
We have been using the Playtex Ventaire bottles lately. There is no perfect
bottle, but the attractive feature is the baby cannot remove any milk unless
they actually suck. The narrow-neck stage 1 is so slow that you have to be
careful with underweight young babies--they may not be able to remove milk
sufficiently to grow. Or, if they are truly "chompers", sometimes they chew
up and down like crazy, but nothing comes out. The wide-necked stage 1
bottles go a bit faster.
In a situation as described ( a baby returning to breast after many
days/weeks of standard bottles) these bottles can be very helpful. These
babies (especially tongue-tied ones) have usually learned to shove the
tongue forward to protect themselves from the fast flow from a "regular"
bottle. With this bottle they can relax, because the flow will stop if they
stop sucking.
