Hi, Peggy
This topic is really important for aspiring RNs! I hope you get to present your
findings to the rest of the class.
We're now up to 61 Baby Friendly Hospitals in the US. Check out:
http://www.babyfriendlyusa.org/eng/03.html
Worldwide it's over 15,000. See
http://www.unicef.org/programme/breastfeeding/baby.htm
To your second question: At the hospital where I work we've just created a
beautiful wall poster (currently going through copyright, so then we can offer
it to others) that describes the feeding cues mom should monitor. That way
every nurse, grandma, mom, dad, and lactation consultant are going by the
same guidelines.
If you want to read some really innovative ideas, search for what Brazil has
done to implement the Code!
