Dear Friends:
 
There is at least one article (I believe in JHL) that linked increased 
breastfeeding performance with a history of sexual abuse in the mother. I took a 
survey once for a graduate student on this very topic, and the results were 
similar. 
 
As usual with humans, there is every range of behavior: from complete 
abhorance of breastfeeding to total immersion in women that have been sexually abused.
 
I personally feel that being female in the US is a risk factor for premature 
weaning; in addition, it is rare to find a woman that has never been the 
object of a lewd glance or comment, which is a sexual harassment.  I remember as a 
teen working in NYC, learning to avoid the blocks containing construction 
workers. I remember in junior high school (age 13-14) the young woman with large 
breasts being constantly teased about her larger breasts. Who among us hasn't 
received such annoyance?
