I'm so sorry Jaye. Can I send you a helmet? :) Health "professionals" mess up
all the time. Its just a fact of life.. I am so sorry for your "mom". How
miserable she must have been. And probably still is. I don't know these
midwives, and I have never heard of NOT giving antibiotics for mastitis or for
any kind of obvious infection anywhere, breast, leg, face, arm, etc. A red
warm inflammed area is not normal. I don't know how long it has been since
you first wrote your dilemma, but yes, I would wait a little while and cool
down, and then write out everything you did for her, including the "wound
protocol". I don't know if they will listen to you or not. Do not take it
personally. I am just thankful you saw the mommy and helped her.
Sometimes it feels when I go to work I am just mopping up mess after mess.
Yes, it makes me angry at others that i feel should know better, but I guess
I'm tired of fighting. I've given up. I just try to make a difference in the one
life I touch... As you did. Take comfort in that Jaye. You can't be
everywhere all the time. All things to all people.. I know you know this but
maybe you need to hear it again.. Only one person at a time. Unless you know
how to split yourself in two pieces. Please take comfort in the fact that you
helped this poor woman..Their will be many more. Sad to say it is a fact of
life if you don't delve into the world of lactation, the best intentions from
health care providers is useless. I am thankful I only have a handful of "onry
docs" who either don't believe me or just don't realize how bad off these
woman are. And how excruciating a raw hamburger nipple feels. Again, I am
truely sorry for her and your head... Someone get Jaye a helmet.
Hugs,
robin
