We use purified lanolin only in our hospital, if breastmilk/colostrum alone will not suffice,
and then go to gel pads. Why? Those are the only ointments we know of that have been
studied, and are acceptable for use with the baby then on the nipple. In other words, this
stuff gets in the baby's mouth.
I would be equally umcomfortable with other ingredients if a baby was then going to the
breast.
