Dear all:
The irony is that 100% of my sample of 2 women who actually use the Hooter Hiders are
using them for PUMPING IN PUBLIC! There are absolutely no provisions for this. When my
son was little and I was trying to figure out what new career would be more amenable to
family life, the non-profit organization I worked for switched to an "open office" system
where the higher ups all had offices and everyone else was put into cubicles. This actually
had the reverse effect. The staff became far more paranoid because they rightly thought
they were being watched by the higher ups. When I was pregnant, I asked where I could
pump when I came back to work. Instead of responding to my question, I was given a
letter stating that I couldn't breastfeed my son in the workplace because of the nature of
the work. I actually knew about the NY State law at the time and the irony is that I was not
working with the public, but sitting at a computer most of the day. I'm just envisioning the
scenario of whipping out the Hooter Hiders to pump in my cubicle!
Best, Susan
