I should have been more specific when I mentioned Lamaze yesterday. Peggy Vincent (author of Baby Catcher) was a Lamaze instructor in the 1960s, and of course, being childless at the time she had no real way to evaluate its effectiveness firsthand or to put a personal spin on it. I had my children in 1979 and 1982. Both the author and I used a strict interpretation of a strict method.
But Dawn Kersula is right; Lamaze International is very, very different now, having grown and developed as all good philosophies do. It's the much more formulaic method from *back then* that I was referring to. My apologies!
"New occasions teach new duties,
Time makes ancient good uncouth.
They must upward still and onward
Who would keep abreast of truth."
