It is really not good buy in to continually view physicians as the enemy.
So many posts with inept being the prime adjective to describe a physician.
Makes me wonder if some of that reflects in attitude when one is speaking
to
the "enemy."
Dear Dr. Poinsett,
What a wonderful and eloquent post you made. The sentences that I copied to
this email says it all: we need to see physicians and other health care
providers as team members. If there is any hint that we are annoyed or upset
with their positions or work, this does show through.
I think it is healthy to disagree with someone, it is how we do it. I do
believe that the bottom line for everyone is the same: a healthy mom and baby.
How we define that and get to that point is very different and certainly we
all have observed this.
As LCs we need to build trust and relationships, not only with the mothers
and family but also the rest of the health team involved.
This is where I think the SOP should be designed toward, a healthy working
relationship that is based on evidence.
Burning bridges will not help us in the future.
