Susan I could not agree with you more. I have always admired Paula Meier's
work. On a personal note, I wish she embraced the IBCLC as a needed
credential. Last time I checked, she was not certified. We all take different
roads, and although she has connected with formula companies where others would
not, she has also conducted very important breastfeeding research and assisted
so many premie moms. Aside from trusting her moms, she went one step further
and conducted research that confirmed that those "less educated" moms were
more accurately measuring creamatocrit than she or her own staff. Her
conclusion: the measurement was much more important to the mother than the staff.
The mother had more emotional investment in the task.
