Andrea,
You wrote about a teething 9 mos old who's on strike since two teeth came in.
My guess is that it initially cause him pain or maybe still does. I'd
suggest mom try giving baby some form of pain relief, tylenol or homeopathic remedy
like chammomile or even try the numbing agents (anbesol) before nursing.
Applying cold as in iced washcloth or the like before feeding might help. There
are other homeopathic remedies she could look up and try besides chammomile,
as well. Rescue remedy comes to mind for the stress; baby and mom, for that
matter.
She also might try usual strike approaches like walking and nursing in sling,
lying on floor without top on while playing with baby so baby can come to mom
and not feel pressure. Also some babies go on strike for weeks and then
return to breast so great to keep up her supply and maybe even try to increase it
a bit so easier for baby to get milk readily.
