I have used both for my kids when I was at work, etc.  Playtex Natural Latch 
nipples are made of a thinner silicone than Avent, making them more soft and 
pliable.  The Playtex nipple is also shorter, which is helpful for a newborn or 
baby with a small mouth.  My firstborn tended to latch onto just the end of 
the Avent nipple as a newborn.  I had to show family members how to encourage 
him to latch correctly onto the Avent bottle.  That was the last thing I 
needed, someone allowing him to feed with pursed lips.

Lactation. Makes me glad I am a member of ILCA. I believe they did 
ultrasounds of breastfed babies drinking from either the Avent (they 
said more chewing or chomping motions) vs the Playtex (more 
breastfeeding like suck/swallow/breathe). I am sorry I am not explaining 
this well.
